Learn English typing for PSSSB — from home row to exam speed
Touch typing is the whole game here: hands resting on A S D F and J K L ;, index fingers finding the F and J bumps without looking, eyes never leaving the screen. The English typing course builds that up row by row before it asks for speed, because a candidate who hunts and pecks at 40 WPM still fails the accuracy gate. Most people with basic keyboard familiarity clear the 30 WPM PSSSB clerk typing standard in three to four weeks of daily practice.
Practice the real PSSSB English typing test interface
The practice session mirrors the exam rather than approximating it: the standard QWERTY keyboard, the ten-chunk passage flow with the 80% completion rule before Enter advances you, backspace freely allowed, and live Net WPM and accuracy while you type. Run a full 10-minute attempt when you want a realistic checkpoint, or shorter learn English typing drills while you are still building accuracy.
English typing test speed & accuracy requirements
PSSSB asks for 30 Net WPM at a minimum 92% accuracy over 10 minutes, and the typing test is qualifying — you must clear it to stay in the running, but it does not add to your merit score. Accuracy is the harder half: each wrong word costs five characters under the net scoring model, so English typing practice that trains clean keystrokes beats chasing raw speed. English and Punjabi typing are cleared separately, so budget time for both.

PSSSB English Typing Rules 2026 — What You Must Know Before Exam Day
🏠
Home row — rest position
Place both hands on A S D F (left) and J K L ; (right). F and J have raised bumps — find them without looking. Return fingers to home row after every keystroke.
👁
Eyes on screen — always
Never look at the keyboard. Touch typing means your fingers know where every key is from muscle memory. This is the only way to consistently reach 30 WPM in 10 minutes.
📄
Chunk system — 10 paragraphs
The passage is divided into 10 chunks of ~32–34 words each. You must type at least 80% of the current chunk before pressing Enter to move to the next. Complete all 10 chunks to be eligible.
⌫
Backspace is allowed
Unlike UPSSSC, PSSSB allows free use of backspace. After completing all 10 chunks, use the remaining time to go back and correct errors to improve accuracy above 92%.
🎯
92% accuracy — hard requirement
You must maintain at least 92% accuracy. If accuracy drops below 92%, you fail the test regardless of how fast you typed. Accuracy matters more than raw speed.

PSSSB English Typing Scoring — 92% Accuracy Model Explained
💡
PSSSB does not use the SSC full/half mistake system. PSSSB uses a character-accuracy model — errors reduce your net character count, which affects both WPM and accuracy. The 92% accuracy threshold is a hard pass/fail gate.
Formula
Error characters = wrong words × 5 Net characters = Gross characters − Error characters Accuracy = (Net ÷ Gross) × 100 → must be ≥ 92% Net WPM = Net characters ÷ 5 ÷ 10 minutes → must be ≥ 30
These PSSSB posts require candidates to clear a typing skill test in both Punjabi (Raavi font) and English, each at a minimum of 30 WPM. Pick your post for the specific guide.
