92% accuracy is the real hurdle

Most candidates who fail a Punjab government typing test fail on accuracy, not speed. A run at 35 WPM with 88% accuracy does not clear; 31 WPM at 95% does. Extra or missing spaces count as errors, as do wrong punctuation and skipped words. Practise at 95% so exam-day nerves still leave you above the line.

A word is defined as five characters including spaces and punctuation. Thirty words per minute across ten minutes works out to roughly 1,500 characters. Knowing the number helps — it turns an abstract target into something you can check against your own practice runs.

Backspace is allowed, but it costs you

Punjab government typing tests generally permit backspace. That does not make it free. Every correction is time not spent typing new words, and your gross speed is computed from total characters produced. Fix genuine errors; do not stop to correct every stray keystroke mid-flow.
