Screen-to-screen mode — passage is on your monitor

DSSSB conducts the typing test in screen-to-screen mode. The passage appears in a window on the computer screen and you type it into a second window. There is no printed hard copy. The Board provides both the computer and the keyboard. Practise reading from a screen while typing, because that is exactly what the exam asks of you.

DSSSB publishes a mock test on dsssb.delhi.gov.in so candidates can familiarise themselves with the module and interface before the exam. Take it. Knowing where the passage window sits, how the timer behaves, and how text is entered removes a layer of exam-day surprise that costs real WPM in the first minute.

Candidates choose English or Hindi through the OARS portal within the notified window. Anyone who does not exercise the option is deemed to have opted for English, and the test is conducted in English only. No request to change the medium is entertained on the day of the test — so confirm your choice early and practise in that language.

Check every key during the centre mock

DSSSB instructs candidates to check all keys of the computer at the exam centre and satisfy themselves that the machine is working properly during the mock test. A sticky key found at minute three of a ten-minute test is unrecoverable. Report any hardware problem to the invigilator before the actual test starts.
