Streams

Clerk-IT and Clerk Accounts — What Actually Changes

Both streams sit the same typing test as the standard Clerk post. The differences are in who can apply and which departments hire — not in what you type or how it is scored.

Clerk-IT

IT stream

The IT stream is the same clerical post filled through IT and technical departments. What differs is the qualifying subject: the notification asks for an IT certificate rather than the general 120-hour computer course accepted for the standard Clerk post. The typing test itself is unchanged — both languages, 30 WPM, 92% accuracy, the same 10-chunk interface. If you are preparing for Clerk-IT, everything on this page applies to you without modification.

Clerk Accounts

Accounts stream

The Accounts stream is filled through finance and accounts departments and asks for a commerce or accounts background as the qualifying subject. Some cycles also test accountancy in the written paper. The typing requirement is identical to the standard Clerk post — both languages, 30 WPM, 92% accuracy, same interface — so practise exactly as a Clerk candidate would.

Other PSSSB posts

Other PSSSB Exams Requiring a Typing Test

These PSSSB posts require candidates to clear a typing skill test in both Punjabi (Raavi font) and English, each at a minimum of 30 WPM. Pick your post for the specific guide.

Avoid common mistakes

Why PSSSB Clerk Candidates Fail the Typing Test

Four avoidable reasons behind almost every disqualification.

⚠️
Wrong font — Asees not Raavi
Asees and Anmollipi use completely different key mappings to Raavi INSCRIPT. Candidates who practise on Asees find every character in the wrong position on exam day. Practice only on Raavi Unicode from day one — the same font TypingSutra uses.
First time seeing chunks on exam day
Most practice sites use scrolling passages. The official exam uses 10 separate blocks with Enter to advance. Candidates who encounter this interface for the first time during the actual exam lose 2–3 critical minutes figuring out the controls.
📊
Speed without accuracy
A candidate typing 40 WPM with 85% accuracy fails. Many aspirants chase speed on random sites while ignoring the 92% rule. TypingSutra enforces the 8% error limit in real time — so you know exactly where you stand before the real test.
🔤
Only practising Punjabi
Both English and Punjabi are mandatory with zero exemptions. Candidates from Punjabi-medium schools sometimes neglect English. Failing either language means disqualification from the entire cycle — not just that language.

How TypingSutra Prepares You for PSSSB Clerk

Three tools purpose-built for the PSSSB Clerk typing test — not generic practice.

🎯Most critical
Exam Mode — full 10-minute mock
Complete PSSSB Clerk simulation: 10-chunk interface, Enter to advance, Page Up to go back, 10-minute countdown, live accuracy display, 92% threshold enforced. Exactly how the real exam runs. Start here on day one so the interface is never unfamiliar.
🔑Fix weak keys
Focus Key Drills — target specific keys
If a specific Gurmukhi character keeps causing errors — ਣ, ਸ਼, ਜ਼, ਖ਼ — Focus Key Drills isolate it and repeat it until the muscle memory is set. This is how you push from 85% to 92% accuracy efficiently.
📈Track progress
Session history and error analysis
Every practice session is logged. Review which characters you consistently miss, how your WPM has moved over time, and whether your accuracy is trending toward the 92% threshold. Data-driven preparation beats random practice.

How to Prepare for PSSSB Clerk Typing Test — 8-Week Plan

1 hour per day. Zero to 30 WPM with 92% accuracy. Follow this week by week.

Week 1–2
Home row only
INSCRIPT home row: A=ੋ S=ਸ D=ਹ F=ਤ G=ਗ H=ਿ J=ਬ K=ਕ L=ਮ. Do not progress until all 9 keys are typed without looking.
Week 3–4
Full keyboard
Top row, bottom row, matras and vowel signs. Add 3–4 keys per session. Only practice words using keys already learned.
Week 5–6
Accuracy first
Enforce 92% accuracy on every session. Slow down if needed. Speed builds naturally once accuracy is consistent.
Week 7–8
Full mock tests
Complete 10-chunk mock tests daily. Target 35+ WPM Punjabi and 33+ WPM English for a safety buffer above the 30 WPM minimum.
