RSMSSB / RSSB LDC English Typing Test Rules 2026

Marks — no speed threshold

  • No WPM requirement of any kind
  • 0.05 marks per correct word, 500-word passage
  • Each paper carries 25 marks — merit-based
  • Minimum 9/25 per paper, applied independently
  • All four papers are compulsory

Back-Space rule

  • Back-Space works only in the current word
  • Enter OR Space-Bar locks the word permanently
  • Not Space alone — either key commits it
  • No correction of any previously typed word
  • Back-Space is unrestricted in the efficiency papers

What earns nothing

  • Misspelled or wrong word
  • Missing word (skipped)
  • Extra word added
  • Word repeated twice
  • Incomplete/half-typed word

What is NOT deducted

  • Nothing is subtracted — wrong words simply score 0
  • No "half mistake" category exists
  • A mistyped word costs the same as an omitted one
  • Your total cannot fall below zero
  • SC/ST get up to 5% relaxation on the 9-mark minimum

RSSB Typing Test Scoring — Formula & Worked Example

Marks = Correct words × 0.05  (maximum 25)
Qualify at 9 marks = 180 correct words
Full marks at 500 correct words = 25 / 25
Example: You type 420 words in 10 minutes and 405 of them exactly match the passage. Marks = 405 × 0.05 = 20.25 out of 25. The 15 wrong words are not deducted — they simply earn nothing, the same as if you had never typed them. There is no threshold to clear beyond the 9-mark minimum.
⚠️ A near-miss is worth zero: one wrong letter forfeits the whole word's 0.05. Accuracy is not a tiebreaker here — it is the score.
Aim past the floor, not at it: 180 correct words only qualifies. These marks join your merit total, so every word above that is rank.

How to Prepare for RSMSSB LDC English Typing Test

1
Chase correct words, not a WPM number
180 correct words in 10 minutes clears the 9-mark minimum, and 500 earns full marks. Speed only helps insofar as it produces correct words — a fast run with sloppy endings scores worse than a steadier one. Aim for 97%+ accuracy first, then push volume.
2
Never press Enter or Space until you are sure
The single most important habit for RSSB, and note it is both keys — not Space alone. Once either is pressed, that word is gone. Slow down slightly before committing and confirm the word is correct. This one habit can save 3–4 words per session, which is real marks.
3
Practice with Rajasthan government vocabulary
RSMSSB passages use formal administrative English — administration, jurisdiction, beneficiary, implementation, notification. Our sessions use Rajasthan-specific passages that match the real exam vocabulary.
4
Do not port a WPM target across from another exam
UPSSSC (30 WPM) and SSC CHSL (35 WPM) are pass/fail against a speed. RSSB is neither — it converts correct words straight into merit marks, so there is no number at which you are simply "done". Practising to an imported threshold will leave marks on the table.
5
Understand the 4-test structure — all are merit-based
Unlike exams where typing is just qualifying, all 4 RSMSSB tests (Hindi Speed, Hindi Efficiency, English Speed, English Efficiency) contribute to your merit score. Strong performance across all 4 is essential for selection.
